Lady Crescent - Prelude

It was 12 midnight and she was still awake; Minnie was in front of her computer with her browser having 19 tabs open, a tab for each of her classmate’s Facebook profile. She loves updating herself with what her classmates are up to and what they do everyday. This is one of the lady’s secret pleasures.

Minerva Delli was a very pretty woman. Her long, black hair had been the envy of all the girls at her school and a pigtail to the right tied with a yellow ribbon was her signature look. She was a smart woman yet she had no friends. Her only social life was the Internet, and she was satisfied with it.

Minnie smiled to herself as she read through all the updates that she was seeing. She always spent her nights looking at her classmates’ photos and when she liked a photo so much, she would save a copy for herself.

One night when she was browsing through her classmates’ profiles, she was suddenly redirected to an unfamiliar site. The page read:

“As the moon finishes three quarters of its cycle,  a new moon is bound to appear. You shall be under the influence of the  warning crescent and only then can you act through its powers.”

Puzzled, Minnie closed her browser only to see it open again with two tabs open, her classmate Lisa’s profile and a Wikipedia article of Blade. She closed the window, and to her irritation she slept earlier that night.

As Minnie went to school, she overheard a conversation.

“Did you hear the news Amy?” one girl said.

“What news?” the other girl replied.

“A senior from this school died last night. My cousin told me that his next-door neighbor throat was cut with a knife by a thief that entered their house. My cousin said that the girl was a student here.”

“That’s terrible! Was thief caught?”

“Unfortunately no. I feel sorry for her family though. I believe you’ve heard her name before, it was Lisa, she’s pretty popular.”

In shock, Minnie stopped walked walking and went numb.

I don’t really believe that [no one cares] dahil masyado mo ding pinapakita na affected ka.

Kaya tigil-tigilan moko. Wag kang feeling close because as far as I’m concerned, I’ve severed my ties with you. Sa iyo at iyong lupon.

Very rarely akong maglabas ng sama ng loob so do not give me a reason to do this again.
